本日2018年2月9日（金）に開幕した韓国での冬季オリンピックにおいて、英国の高度な表面保護製品メーカーが、欧州のオリンピックチームのメダル獲得に貢献することを期待しています。
セラミックペイントプロテクションと世界的に有名なディテーリング製品を製造するGtechniq社は、多くのF1レースチームと同じコーティングを使用して、チェコ共和国のボブスレーチームを支援しています。
C0 Aerocoatは、チェコ共和国の認定ディテイラーであるWrapstyle Zlín社によって2台のボブスレーに塗布されました。
Wrapstle Zlín社のCEOであるJan Tureček氏は次のように述べています。「私たちは、2017年のボブスレーのために人目を引くデザインを探していたボブスレーチームから直接連絡を受けました。彼らは我々の能力を知っていたので、本当に目立つものを求めて我々のところに来たのです。
コーティングして、さらに保護することにしました。空力特性に優れたGtechniq Areocoatを採用することにしました。これはF1チームがパフォーマンスを向上させるために使用しているコーティングです」
Gtechniq C0 Aerocoatは、モータースポーツ業界のために科学的に設計されたもので、車のタイヤから捨てられたゴムが付着するのを防ぎます。このような現象は、慎重に研究された空力の流れを乱し、レーシングカーの全体的な空力効率に悪影響を及ぼします。ボブスレー競技はタイミングが命です。空気抵抗を低減することで、ボブスレーがこれまで以上に速くなり、氷と空気の中を滑ってオリンピックでの勝利を目指すことが期待されています。
Gtechniq社のマネージングディレクターであり、このコーティングの科学的処方者であるRob Earle氏は次のように述べています。「ボブスレーは信じられないほど精密に設計されており、すべての表面を適切な状態に保ち、本来の設計通りに動作させることが重要です。私たちのコーティングが、チェコチームのメダル獲得に少しでも貢献できることを期待しています」
チェコチームのソリは、2018年2月15日から25日にかけて、全長2,018メートルの専用トラックであるアルペンシア・スライディング・センターで見ることができます。
UK manufacturers of advanced surface protection are hoping to help a European Olympic team reach medal-status, at the Winter Olympics in South Korea, which opened today (Friday 9 February 2018).
Gtechniq, creators of ceramic paint protection and world-renowned detailing products, are backing the Czech Republic’s Bobsleigh Team, using the same coating as a number of Formula One race teams.
C0 Aerocoat was applied to the teams two bobsleighs by Accredited Detailers Wrapstyle Zlín, in the Czech Republic, who also wrapped the sleighs in a vibrant blue, white, and red design.
Jan Tureček, CEO of Wrapstle Zlín, said: “We were contacted directly by the bobsleigh team, who were looking for an eye-catching design for their 2017 bob. They knew what we as a company were capable of, so came to us for something that would really stand-out.
“One of our additional services as a company is detailing, we therefore decided to coat the sleigh and give it extra protection. And decided to use Gtechniq Areocoat for its aerodynamic properties –I mean it’s a coating used for Formula One teams to help with performance – so it will help the bobsleigh.”
Gtechniq C0 Aerocoat was scientifically designed for the motorsports industry to prevent discarded rubber from the cars’ tyres sticking on to the wings, an occurrence which would disrupt the carefully studied aero flow and negatively affect the overall aerodynamic efficiency of a racing car. Timing is everything in bobsleigh events, and it is hoped that the drag-reducing properties will make the bobsleighs even faster than before – gliding through the ice and air for Olympic victory.
Rob Earle, managing director of Gtechniq and scientific formulator of the coating, said: “What a great move by Wrapstyle Zlín – a bob is designed to an incredible degree of precision and it is crucial to maintain all the surfaces in the correct condition, so they behave as originally designed. Let’s hope our coating goes some way to helping the Czech Team bring home a medal.”
You can see the Czech sleds hit the Alpensia Sliding Centre, a purpose built 2,018 meter long track, between 15th and 25th February 2018.
